OLDHAM & SADDLEWORTH PARLIAMENTARY BY-ELECTION
LABOUR MP FOUND GUILTY OF LYING TO LOCAL PEOPLE
Oldham & Saddlewoth has become a political battle field, due to the Parliamentary by-election being held on 13th January. In the High Court, former Labour MP was found guilty of lying to local people during his campaign in the last General Election. Liberal Democrats have re-selected Elwyn Watkins to be their candidate for the first by-election of the current Parliament. Elwyn was the victim of Labour’s dirty campaign during last year’s General Election. Political analysts are predicting a very close fight between Liberal Democrats and Labour, putting Conservatives as the outsiders.
Cllr Farooq Qureshi joined the Deputy Leader of Lib Dem’s Simon Hughes MP and other activists to canvass in Oldham & Saddleworth. After speaking to local people, it looks very promising for the Liberal Democrats.
